FOX29 visited PHMC Health Center on Cedar on May 10 to celebrate PHMC’s nurses during National Nurses Week.
During the visit, FOX29 reporter Marcus Espinoza spoke with Chanel Hart, Director of Nursing, and Jake Becker, Managing Director of Specialized Health Services. They honored the nurses who work across PHMC’s six Federally Qualified Health Centers, more than a dozen shelters across the city, residential programs, addiction treatment programs and directly in the community to serve low-income and underinsured Philadelphians.
Espinoza also spoke with Koleen Cavanaugh, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Independence Blue Cross (IBX), a sponsor of the PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar. Cavanaugh acknowledged the central role nurses play in health care and discussed IBX’s “Celebrate Caring” campaign, which recognizes nurses in the region who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to their patients and communities. PHMC’s Chanel Hart was one of seven finalists in 2022.
As part of the celebration of National Nurses Week, Rita’s Italian Ice treated PHMC’s nurses in attendance to free water ice.
