The PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar is opening its new PHMC Medical Respite on Cedar program in late November. The launch of the program on the Cedar Campus is part of the ongoing construction that is transforming the former space into an integrated public health campus serving the West and Southwest Philadelphia communities.
PHMC Medical Respite on Cedar will offer post-acute medical care for individuals experiencing homelessness who are discharged from a hospital and require additional medical care to recover from a physical illness, surgery or injury. The 20-bed unit will offer high-quality medical care, linkage to health and social services, and comfortable space for rest and recovery.
PHMC Medical Respite will expand the range of services offered at the PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar. The campus currently provides primary care services for families at the PHMC Health Center on Cedar and recently launched an inpatient hospice unit operated by PHMC subsidiary The Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia. Additional services include an Emergency Department, inpatient hospital care and psychiatric care operated by the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and additional programming offered by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
